This workshop has a very special significance for me because It is a workshop I was planning to prepare for a very long time, it has been thoroughly thought out to help treat trauma and open our heart chakra and our root chakra.
Like any other person, I had experienced trauma in my life and overcoming it has been extremely liberating. It is not uncommon to experience trauma in our childhood, either coming from dysfunctional families, suffering bullying at school, or because we witnessed a traumatic event. Trauma tends to get trapped inside of our heads, hiding, making us sometimes behave in an odd way (like being extremely cold with others, or finding difficulties socialising or trusting others). Sometimes we are not even aware of trauma. Trauma can be transferred from generation to generation if it is not transformed… We might carry the trauma of our mother, or grandmother and not be aware of it. As we grow older we can recognise mannerisms and ways of being of our own father or mother, or we catch ourselves doing things they did we didn’t agree with, like maybe being very authoritative. On the contrary, we do not acknowledge that we are unaware of carrying their trauma because trauma tends to be silenced and not spoken about.
Trauma divides us from our bodies. Early abuse makes us question our fundamental right to be here. Rather than being a source of safety and support, the family becomes a source of struggle and pain. As we heal from trauma, we treasure each regained scrap of physical awareness. We sense our determination to survive as we battle with despair. (Person, 2015)
During this workshop, we will be working on opening our heart chakra and root chakra to help liberate the trauma we have stored inside of us.
Anahata chakra (or heart chakra) is the link between the lower chakras and the higher chakras, the link between the external and the internal, the masculine and the feminine.
Anahata chakra is the key as well as the gateway to all love, including Divine love. In grief and post-trauma, it is a struggle to keep our hearts open, unobstructed and undefended when, in so many ways, all we wish is to stop feeling this seemingly bottomless pain (Kerby, 2019)
Muladhara chakra (or root chakra) is our survival centre linked with the question ‘Do I belong here?’. This chakra is the chakra of stability, basic needs and security.
The Root Chakra is known as the base chakra and it is located at the bottom of the spine. Its concerns are for safety and stability. Life-threatening traumas at any age disrupt your ability to trust that life is safe enough and that you have the capacity to take care of and protect yourself. Things done for self-preservation such as security, binge eating, stubborn tendencies, and hoarding, may result from the energy that is stuck in the first chakra through fear. Mantras/prayers/music known as the yoga of sound associated with this first chakra are “I am worthy”, “I am able to be happy”, ”I am happy to be alive” or ”this is my birthright.” (Ph.D., 2019)
The pandemic and the lockdown have both been extremely traumatic events we are starting to come to terms with now.
I have planned this workshop to enjoy and have time for ourselves, to be open and trust and let your emotions be free. During these 3.5 +1 hours of the workshop (with one hour break/coffee, snacks and food included in the price) we will come along with many different experiences to connect with those around us and ourselves, to be in a safe space of love, understanding and care, to have time to get to see our inner child and hug them, to find peace and love within yourself, to share or to be observant and listen. We will be in a place of no judgment, in a place of acceptance and love.
In this workshop we will enjoy:
1 hour Aerial yoga
1 hour Sound bath
1 hour Kundalini yoga,
30 mins face yoga and Journaling
Many of you know me as your aerial yoga teacher and you know how much I love to teach aerial yoga, as I always say, aerial yoga brings the child of you out. Those that have been part of my aerial yoga family and have come to the classes are already familiar with the benefits of aerial yoga, but for those that do not know aerial yoga yet, here I list some of its benefits:
During this workshop, I will be teaching also Kundalini yoga and introduce you to face yoga. For those that always asked me if I taught a different type of yoga aside from aerial yoga, you’ll have the opportunity to join me in these classes.
Catering will be provided by My Vegan Yummy Muffins.
I am really looking forward to see you at the workshop.
